Professional Naturalist Guide Benedito Freitas studied Tourism and Biological Sciences and it was through these references that he began to apply his passion and research for learning about nature. He began leading nature tours professionally in 2000. Since then, he has gained a vast experience, leading naturalists, birdwatchers, photographers, scientists, filmmakers for Cinema and Documentaries (including NatGeo and BBC crews) and wildlife enthusiasts to most regions of Brazil, especially the Pantanal, the extensive Cerrado of Central Brazil, the Southern Amazon Rainforest, the Atlantic Forest, Southern Brazil (including the Iguaçu Falls) and the XINGU Indigenous Reserve, a region he knows best.
In the field, Benedito Freitas stands out not only for his ability to find, identify and show birds and other animals to his clients, but also for his deep knowledge and understanding of Zoology, Ecology and Conservation issues.
When he is not guiding, Ben lives in Cuiabá and also works as a field ornithologist and is an associate researcher at the Ornithology Laboratory of the Federal University of Mato Grosso (NEPA/IB/UFMT), as well as a member of the Brazilian Society of Ornithology (SBO) and the Neotropical Bird Club (NBC)
